What I Did Over This Weekend
Apr. 17th, 2010 11:57 pmMaybe I should post more often. Especially to let local-ish people know what I've been doing when I'm not seeing them. Especially local-ish people I haven't seen in a few months. (Including, but not limited to Sam and marmota.) Like letting them know I got my head shaved last Saturday.
This Friday I came home right away. Spent four hours online and went to bed.
Saturday I got-up, spent an hour online (if I didn't respond to a USENET post, that would have been less time.) Went to the bank, checked that I did receive my state refund, and got a password to my home banking without e-statements.
Sold one pair of footwear from the three I had brought with me from home at The Garment District. While I waited for the guy to get a chance to look over them, I had a mini-Irish breakfast at Tommy Doyle's (did not want to wait in line for The Friendly Toast and finally try them.) Felt more fidgety than normal and could feel the restlessness in my lower forearms and hands instead of just the fingers. Felt a little sick when walking back and did a little splat of throw-up on the sidewalk. (BTW, the breakfast was fine and the sick feeling got in the way of finishing the potato. I made sure to eat all of my scone.)
Met with the ex and had a cup of coffee to his tea at Cafe Pamplona from a stand-offish waiter. That is, after I had gotten a vest at Oona's.
Dropped the two sets of footwear left at the storage locker and got the other 14. Waited for the 85 bus in Union Square, Somerville since there were no schedules posted for it nor a note that said it was a weekday bus only. Got on the third bus to Lechmere Station and couldn't get on the first trolley. Too many people when I have a large bag. The crowd reformed so I didn't get on the second trolley. The third trolley was right behind, but didn't take anyone. The fourth trolley was right behind that and did take people. I scored a seat.
Made my transfer to the red line and got-off at Kendall Station. Went to The Garment District again. Guy claimed they normally don't like to buy from a customer more than once-a-week and tried to compare it the goose that laid the Golden Egg. Frankly I don't think the comparison made any sense, but decided not to tell him that. So of course when I came back he told me he couldn't take any of the 14 pairs. (BTW, I've double-checked their web site right now. It doesn't say they prefer to buy from a person once-a-week, but does have a phone number to ask for more information. It also mentions a 50 piece maximum. So my two visits is still way under the limit of how many items can be brought (I presume) at one time.)
Decided to bring the bag back to the storage locker. Had a goat cheese and pickle burger at City Slicker with ketchup and mustard followed by a cup of black raspberry ice cream. Took my ice cream out to the bus stop by 8:37 to catch the bus that left Lechemere at 8:35 and was supposed to arrive at Davis Square by 8:54. Bus picked me up at 9:04.
From there I worked my way home.
