BDUs Kick Ass
Nov. 8th, 2006 11:59 pmGot-up (and I don't seem to be getting-up later than 9:30-ish even without the alarm this week) and did my online activities.
Decided to go to Youth on Fire ( http://www.ccaa.org/programs/yof.htm ) for the first time since they've re-opened. (There was a short time period in which they were closed in order to get two new staff members.) I arrived a bit after 12:30 and stayed till close.
While there, I admired a member's jacket. Over 6 years, he's amassed a rather large quantity of patches and pins to the point of having the entire jacket filled. Also finished his bag of popcorn.
Did play 2 games of pool (badly, got asked if I was even aiming or just shooting during the second game.) (And the answer was aiming, but I've had less than 15 games in my entire life so I haven't got it yet.) Would have fit a third in if I wasn't waiting for a chance to speak to the Homestart representative and then started-in on the 3 housing applications I got.
Before leaving, I did have the chicken, soup, a vegetable vinaigrette, and I think it was rice with orange juice for lunch. After lunch, I was inspired to make a strawberry jam, grape jelly, and peanut butter sandwich when I saw a staff member with the jam. Got handed two bars, one was Oreos and I can't remember the other. Wouldn't have the Oreo bar until the day after.
Had to go pick-up a book at the Copley library. Before I got out of the station, I gave a dollar to a homeless guy and got into conversation with him. He's not used to many females actually stopping to talk to him. Many just hurry along more so than the males. Before I left, I did say that I'll probably come across him again since I'll have cause to go to the library. He's usually there 3 or 4 nights a week.
The conversation in the meanwhile was him as a Christian who can keep his mind open to learning about the world's religions. He can see a Buddhist-like aspect to Jesus' teachings. The only religion he's seen able to keep male and female fairly equal in practice is Wiccanism. And I've started to explain to him what some people see in BDSM.
Went back to Park Street only to have to double-back. I almost forgot to get-off at Hynes/Convention and buy a pair of camouflage pants at Army Barracks. ( http://armybarracks.com/ ) It's the same place where I got my dog tag watch, my army duffel, and lock for the duffel.
Came home and slept in the pants.
